Tayrona to Villa de Leyva

So it was a pretty ordinary night. Hammocks are NOT great to sleep in, no matter what anyone tells you. And it definitely isn't romantic - it's about as romantic as sitting on a paling fence. I'm not sure why Intrepid bothers - one can easily walk in and out of the national park after spending a full day there.

No-one looked like they had had a fun night, especially those counting their mozzie bites this morning.

We walked out of the parque at 6:00 a.m. which was quite pleasant. Picked up by minibus and driven to a place by a river for breakfast which was nice.

Further on to Santa Marta by minibus. Traffic there was amazing. Lots of high-rise built and being built.

Yet another Avianca flight - now to Bogotá. Arrived there about 12:30 and by the time everyone stuffed around getting lunch, etc. it was 2:00 p.m. by the time we hit the road to Villa de Leyva. The joys of group travel ...

Of course, My Friend and I have already been to Villa de Leyva. We went there with German at the start of the trip - almost 2 weeks ago. This was because I particularly wanted to be there for the Saturday market.

We had one stop along the way for a toilet break and tried some lovely arepas and a chorizo sausage at a roadside stall. My Friend got some good shots along the way of locals going about their business (see below).

Arrived Villa de Leyva about 10 to 6 and I raced off to the big square to see it in the evening light (it's getting dark here just after 6:00 p.m.).

My Friend and I returned a short time later to enjoy a drink and watch the world go by.
